A meeting is scheduled for Friday to discuss the potential change in the headgear worn by police constables in Karnataka. The gathering will take place at the Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) office in Bengaluru.
The primary topic of discussion will be the current slouch hats worn by constables, which have raised concerns among the force. Senior state police officers and commandants from the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) will attend the meeting to weigh in on the matter.
Sources indicate that the slouch hats, while traditional, are proving to be cumbersome for constables, especially during riot control and rallies. The hats are reportedly difficult to maintain under these high-pressure conditions. As a solution, one of the proposed alternatives is to replace the slouch hats with peak caps, which could offer better practicality and comfort for officers in the field.
The final decision will be made after the meeting, a police officer stated.
