Bengaluru: The Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) on Wednesday cancelled the state government’s decision of scrapping 2011 provisional list of gazetted probationary officers for group A and B services.

The KAT has directed the state government to restore 362 probationary officers within two months. Expressing happiness over the KAT judgment, Somasekhar, one of the probationary officers who deprived of job due to the Cabinet’s decision to scrap the list of gazette probationary officers, said the KAT took three years to ensure justice for the 362 probationary officers.

“I am happy to know about the KAT’s judgment. We have to wait for three years because of the state government’s mistake. I hope the government to take measures for the restoration of all the probationary officers,” said Somasekhar from Kolar who was selected as a tahsildar.

It may be recalled the State Cabinet had decided on August 7, 2014 to scrap the 2011 provisional list of gazette probationary officers for group A and B services and ordered re-examination. The state government had ordered the CID inquiry into alleged irregularities after several candidates complained of rampant corruption during the selection process. The CID report had thrown light on large-scale malpractices in the examination and selection process. The CID report promoted the state government to order re-examination.
