Bengaluru: Chief Election Commissioner Om Prakash Rawat has passed a strict direction to the state administration to keep the “people with anti-constitutional behaviour” away from the election administration machinery.
Meanwhile, he warned that the CEC will not tolerate any officials or the department with the election duty being in contact with such “anti-constitutional” persons. Stringent action will be taken against such persons, he warned.
Om Prakash Rawat spoke after the completion of three-days of pre-poll preparatory meeting here. Responding to a query regarding the allegation of former prime minister H D Devegowda that the state government was controlling the police department using Kempaiah, he said, “The CEC has considered the allegations seriously. Facts are being gathered regarding the matter and action will be taken after a review”, he said.
Meanwhile, he ruled out the allegation of dropping more than 15 lakh minority voters’ names from the list. “Voters’ names cannot be dropped just like that. After the submission of Form 7, names may be dropped only after a review. The EC has dropped 9.17 lakh names after revision, which includes 4.88 lakh- shifted, 3.67 lakh-died and 61,000-which were added twice. Then how such allegations can be true?”, he retorted.
