Bengaluru, India: Biocon founder and Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw met Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday, according to PTI reports, amid a growing war of words over the state of Bengaluru’s public infrastructure.

Background of the Controversy

The dispute began after Shaw and Aarin Capital chairperson Mohandas Pai posted on social media highlighting pothole-ridden roads and poor garbage management in the city during Shaw’s business visit.

In response, Shivakumar accused the duo of having “some personal agenda” against the state government during an event in KR Puram, adding:
“Why didn’t they open their mouth during the BJP regime?”

Shaw hit back on X (formerly Twitter), clarifying:
“Not true. Both @TVMohandasPai and I have criticised deteriorating infrastructure in our city to previous BJP & JDS Governments.”

Political Reactions

The controversy has sparked reactions within the Karnataka Congress. Minister Priyank Kharge commented on the criticism, saying:
“I am not sure which part of Bengaluru they have seen. Work is in progress, and whatever is necessary for infrastructure improvement, we are doing it.”

This exchange highlights the ongoing scrutiny over Bengaluru’s infrastructure, which has long been a concern for residents and public figures alike.
