Multi-lingual actor Kishore has been appointed the ambassador for the 16th Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes), which will take place from March 1 to 8. In a statement, Kishore expressed his excitement about the festival’s growth, hoping it would gain global recognition and attract talent from around the world.
Kishore praised Bengaluru’s audience for their maturity and appreciation for world cinema, citing how filmmaker Mani Ratnam once believed that if one could convince Kannada audiences, they could win over audiences globally. He emphasized the importance of encouraging world cinema and hoped the audience would continue to support international films showcased at the festival.
On the changes he’d like to see at the festival, Kishore stressed that films should be judged based on their merit, without biases. He expressed hope that the festival would feature worthy films and continued the legacy of fostering good cinema.
As the ambassador, Kishore, who recently portrayed a communist leader in Vetrimaran’s Viduthalai Part 2, acknowledges the responsibility and is committed to doing his best. This year’s theme for the festival is ‘Plurality and Inclusivity’, as announced by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The FIAPF-accredited event will feature screenings at multiple venues, including Orion Mall, Rajajinagar, Suchitra Film Society, Banashankari, and Dr. Ambareesh Auditorium, Chamrajpet, along with masterclasses and workshops.
