Kidnappers of 8 y/o Ujire boy who demanded Bitcoins, arrested in Kolar village

Kolar: Five teams of the Dakshina Kannada district police, with the assistance of the Kolar Police led by SP Karthik Reddy, arrested six persons and rescued the 8-year-old boy who was kidnapped from Ujire on December 17.

The boy was kidnapped from Ujire temple street on Thursday evening in a white Tata Indica. The child was kept at the residence of one Manjunath in Kornahosalli of the Malur taluk. At around 5 AM, the police raided the house, arrested the accused and rescued the kidnapped child.

The accused will be brought to the Belthangady Police Station for further interrogation.

After the rescue operation was carried out in the Masti Police Station limits, the accused, who are from Bengaluru and Mandya, were taken to the Kolar City Police Station.

It can be recalled that the kidnappers had called the boy’s mother, demanding ransom in the form of 100 Bitcoin which was valued at Rs 17 crores. They later reduced the ransom to Rs 25 lakhs in Bitcoins. The boy’s father is a businessman and is known to be an investor in Bitcoins among his close circles.
