Bengaluru: When a police team led by ACP Vijayanagar Parameshwara Hegade detained a person who was roaming around in a suspicious manner on Magadi road on the wee hours of December 12, they had no idea that they were about to blow the lid off a major gang involved in several robberies.
As per the procedure, they subjected the detained person to interrogation. He spilt the bean that his name is Japan Raja and he is heading a notorious robbery gang called ‘Japan Gang’, which was involved in more than 44 robberies in the city.
Speaking to the reporters, city police commissioner T Sunil Kumar informed that once the police found that the detained person was Japan Raja, a special team was formed for the investigation. “Another four members of the gang including a woman who was helping the gang to sell the looted ornaments have been arrested. Notices have been issued to the gold loan companies, which bought the gold ornaments from her,” he said.
