The KR Market Metro Station now features the “Banni Nodi” project, a wayfinding and historical exhibit capturing Bengaluru’s 500-year history. Curated by Sensing Local and Native Place, this project offers commuters and visitors a visual and narrative journey through the city’s past, with displays of colonial maps, lithographs, and other archival materials. The Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) supported the project, aiming to connect the city’s cultural roots with its modern urban landscape.

The historical displays at KR Market cover five political periods that shaped Bengaluru’s evolution. They include walking trails for visitors to explore significant structures from various eras. However, a broader plan to expand these historical signages city-wide was scrapped due to funding issues, though advocates hope for future public-private partnerships to continue preserving Bengaluru’s legacy.
