Bengaluru: The South Western Railway will soon run battery-operated carts at the Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station for the benefit of senior citizens and persons with disability.
The service will begin with seven electric buggies. Passengers can pre-book a buggy by paying Rs. 20 per person. The booking contact number will be available on the IRCTC website. In addition to this, independent ticketing counters at both the main and rear entrances of the station will be set up. The cart operator will also have a ticketing facility for passengers availing themselves of the service from the train to the exit point of the station. Service will be available round the clock, said a press release.
The carts will be supplied by Maini Material Movements, which has bagged a five-year contract, according to the release.
