Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has decided to stop the distribution of senior citizens’ special identity card and make the process of availing benefits easier. Instead, senior citizens can show any identity cards provided by the state government.
According to the sources of the KSRTC, people in age group of 60 and above can get 25% percent concession by showing any of the basic ID cards including passport, voters id, Aadhar card, driving licence, NREGS ID card, any government department or public sector unit/institution identity card (only for senior citizens).
The ID card distributed by the PSU which contains the date of birth and year, the welfare of disabled and senior citizen directorate ID for senior citizens with a photograph is also valid. Facility can be availed through the special ID cards distributed by the corporation.
The corporation provides 25% concession in the ticket rate for the senior citizens of Karnataka, which means for those who are 60-years or more get concession in urban, suburban, general, express, semi-luxury and Rajahamsa buses.
