Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to receive 20 new ‘960 Volvo Multi Axle’ Seater Prototype (basic model) buses for long-distance travel within the next three months. This announcement was made after Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy inspected the premium bus on Saturday.
These buses will be deployed to various regions of Karnataka, including Mangalore, Kundapur, Mysore, Shimoga, Chikkamagaluru, as well as destinations outside the state such as Mumbai, Shirdi, Chennai, and Ernakulam.
The new buses boast impressive features such as powerful halogen headlights and Day Running Light (DRL), a revamped plush interior design with Scandinavian exterior styling. They also offer better fuel efficiency and come equipped with advanced engines featuring innovative technology. The buses have increased seating capacity with a 3.5% increase in length and more space between passenger seats. Additionally, there is a 5.6% increase in bus height providing more headroom, while the window glass is 9.5% wider than in previous models. Ample luggage space is available to accommodate travelers’ belongings.
Furthermore, these new-generation buses include mobile charging points for passengers’ convenience and provide excellent air conditioning throughout the journey. The seating arrangement has been designed to provide utmost comfort to passengers with high-class seats installed onboard. For added safety measures, rear fog lights have been installed in each bus.
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy stated that the Fire Alarm and Protection System (FAPS) has been implemented in these buses to ensure passenger safety at all times.
