Bengaluru: Five Karnataka-based business corporations have come forward to rejuvenate six lakes in Bengaluru, at the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) annual summit.
Meritor CVC, Elcia, Wipro, Biocon and Timken India have come up with an agreement with Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy to revive the Kenchenhalli, Doddatoguru, Shikaripallya, Yarendahalli, Kammasandra and Margondahalli lakes. In return, HDK has promised to solve the problems the corporations are facing.
Reportedly, Kumaraswamy has told the companies that whatever problems they are facing, they can approach him and get a solution. Speaking at the Confederation, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairperson of Biocon, said that she and Wipro chairman Azim Premji were proceeding with an initiative to improve the city’s air quality as well.
“Seven of the world’s ten most polluted cities are in India, and we don’t want Bengaluru to become like Delhi or Lucknow,” said Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw.
