Bengaluru: Governor Vajubhai Vala fixed today, July 19, 1.30 PM as the deadline for Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to prove the majority in the state Assembly.
In a three-page letter to the CM (letter no VIP/ 49/ 2019) Governor Vala pointed out that he is giving this instruction to him under Article 175 (2) of the Constitution of India.
Vala informed the CM that 15 MLAs belonging to the JD(S) and Congress parties resigned from their posts as MLAs and two Independent MLAs have also withdrawn their support.
The Governor’s letter has been marked to Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar as well. This move of the Governor comes as a rude shock to the coalition government partners who were trying to delay the crucial vote of confidence by raising technical issues.
