Bengaluru: The State Government is all set to hold a one-day Health Mela in all 176 taluks from April 18 to 22.
The Mela aims to provide free diagnosis, treatment and other health services, as well as awareness and counselling on various government schemes and initiatives.
According to sources, all citizens will be able to register for a general health check-up and receive a free digital health ID.
Doctors and community health officers will be able to consult specialists and super specialists through teleconsultation.
Registration and screening for non-communicable diseases (diabetes, hypertension, oral, breast, and cervical cancers) will be done simultaneously with treatment, and free referral services will be provided based on the patient’s needs.
The Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka scheme will issue health cards to eligible beneficiaries. To ensure privacy, a separate area for women’s health screening will be set up. The mela will offer speciality services for mother and child health, ENT, ophthalmology, dental, ortho, and skin health. Ayush clinical services, such as panchakarma and kshara sutra, would be provided for free. Awareness will be created on Ayush home remedies for diabetes, hypertension and common ailments.
There will also be free health education and health promotion activities such as yoga and meditation, as well as awareness of a healthy lifestyle and counselling will also be provided.
Food adulteration testing and food safety laboratory tests will be conducted by the FSSAI to educate the public about the importance of eating nutritious foods and to promote the Eat Right Movement. The State Government’s popular schemes/programmes relevant to all other departments will be made known through IEC activities.
