Bengaluru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah, continuing his attack on the ruling BJP, said that when he raked up the medical equipment purchase scam in the state, CM BS Yediyurappa said that all the pertinent documents would reach him within 24 hours.
“It has been 24 days now. I have not even seen a piece of paper reach my house,” said Siddramaiah.
The Congress in general and Siddaramaiah in specific has alleged multi-crore scam in the COVID related medical equipment purchases in the state.
However, the CM, while refuting all these charges, had clarified that there was no misappropriation of funds and that Siddaramaiah was free to verify the papers.
Speaking on these lines, Siddaramaiah tweeted on Sunday and said that now the state is racing towards becoming No-1 in Corona cases in the country and the state government has completely failed to handle the situation because it was busy making money.
“After I raised the issue, the corruption has drastically come down. Several purchases have been kept pending now. The BJP must be cursing me for thwarting their plans of gobbling money,” he said adding that while the people of the state are suffering without beds in hospitals, without ventilators, without oxygen cylinders, without food, money and job, the BJP has conveniently swindled crores and crores of rupees in the name of COVID treatment.
Further attacking CM BSY for his statement that the opposition must support the government during the times of crisis, Siddaramaiah said that it is the BJP which toppled the MP government during the Corona crisis.
“During such crisis, even the government must come to the rescue of the people and not try to swindle the money,” he said.
