K’taka ranked 9th in Food Safety Index again

Bengaluru: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya released the 4th State Food Safety Index (SFSI) on the occasion of World Food Safety Day on Tuesday June 7. Karnataka retained ninth the second time on the Safety Index report for 2021-22, while Tamil Nadu topped the list among larger states.

Karnataka had been ranked sixth in the 2019-20 report.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) prepared the report to evaluate states’ performance across five food safety parameters.

The fourth State Food Safety Index (SFSI) will help in providing of safe and nutritious food to citizens by highlighting the efforts of states and union territories in this regard.

The SFSI, which began in 2018-19, intends to make a competitive and positive change in the country’s food safety ecosystem.
