K’taka state government plans Covid-19 test for all above 55 years

Bengaluru: Following the findings that all those who died after testing positive for Covid 19 are above 55 years age, the state government has decided to make Covid 19 test compulsory for all those above 55 years, complaining of fatigue and tiredness.

Medical education minister Dr K Sudhakar made an announcement in this regard.

“In the state population 57.91 lakh people are above the age of 55 years. All those who died after testing positive for Covid 19 approached doctors only at the last stage. So we decided to make the tests at a very early stage,” he explained.

A doctor by qualification, Sudhakar observed that rapid test kits has limited benefits. “We are getting over 1.25 lakh rapid test kits in a couple of days. But there is not much benefit,” he said.
