Bengaluru: After a lot of contemplation, the state Education Department has decided to conduct examinations for II PUC students who are due to write only one pending paper-English and SSLC examinations for all the subjects.
Speaking to news persons, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar said that while the PUC (English) exam will be held on June 18, the SSLC examination will be held for 10 days, i.e. from June 25 to July 4.
The board examinations for II PUC commenced on March 4 and by the time the ‘Janata Curfew’ was imposed on March 23, the II PUC students were due to appear for the English paper, which was cancelled.
Meanwhile, the SSLC examinations were scheduled from March 27 to April 9 but due to the lockdown, these examinations could not be conducted.
The Minister said that after holding a meeting with experts from the education field, MLCs from the Teachers’ and Graduate constituency, parents and teachers, and after holding a discussion with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, the decision to conduct the SSLC examinations was taken.
“As far as the SSLC examinations are concerned, 2,879 examination centres and 43,720 classrooms in the state will be utilised,” he said adding that every classroom will have santizers, thermal scanning facilities etc.
Social distancing will be maintained in the halls and all students must wear a mask, he said.
