Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday assured freedom fighter H S Doreswamy to constitute a committee under Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa to provide shelter and land for the poor in the state.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had invited freedom fighter Doreswamy to discuss the demands of the agitators on Tuesday. It may be recalled that the Bhoomi Mattu Vasati Hakku Vanchitara Horatara Samithi had launched a dharna under the leadership of veteran freedom fighter H S Doreswamy demanding housing and regularisation of bagair hukum lands to the farmers who had been cultivating lands in the fringe areas of the forests since several decades.
Siddaramaiah also met the delegation of farmers under the leadership of Kodihalli Chandrasekhar on Monday. The delegation discussed with the chief minister about the dues to the sugarcane growers. He had assured them to look into the matter. He had also stated that an all-party delegation would be taken to Delhi to discuss with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the waiving of crop loans.
