Bengaluru: Political leaders of various political parties have condemned the attack on Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Vishwanath Shetty.
BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa said, “The horrific incident deserves to be condemned. This is a proof for the existence of goonda raj and the deterioration of law and order in the state.’’ He has wished Justice Shetty a speedy recovery.
Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda expressed anguish over the stabbing incident at Lokayukta office. “Law and order is dead in the state. Lokayukta institution has already been killed by the government’’, Deve Gowda said.
Reacting to the horrific incident, Janata Dal (S) State President H D Kumaraswamy blamed the government for lack of the security at the Lokayukta Office. “What is the meaning of this attack? Here there is no security for even Lokayukta’’, Kumaraswamy said.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Minister for Higher Education Basavaraja Rayareddi rushed to Mallya Hospital to enquire about Justice Shetty’s condition.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy said that he would order a probe into the incident. “As of now, I do not have more information on the incident. I was told a man who had gone to the Lokayukta office to file a complaint, stabbed Justice Shetty. The accused has been detained and the probe is on’’, the minister said.
Former Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde condemned the incident. “I wish Justice Shetty a speedy recovery’’, Justice Hegde said.
Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Vishwanath Shetty was stabbed at Lokayukta premises on March 7. The assailant was identified as Tejraj Sharma. Currently, Justice Shetty is receiving treatment at Mallya Hospital in Bengaluru.
