Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday January 13 has made a personal appeal to Congress leaders Siddaramaiah and D. K. Shivakumar, urging them to end their Mekedatu march.

“I am ready to take all measures towards implementing the Mekedatu project by taking all of you into confidence,” said CM Bommai in a statement addressed to Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar.

“The coronavirus’s third wave has intensified, affecting people, particularly children. Giving the current situation, it’s not appropriate from a public health point of view to gather people in big numbers for a padayatra and things like that.  Even the High Court has taken a firm stance on this, which reflects sentiments of public,” he said.

“So, drop the padayatra for the time being, and let us face Covid – 19 together.  Let us work together in the next days to implement Mekedatu,” CM Bommai said.
