A heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded in Pulakeshinagar, Bengaluru, when a three-year-old girl named Raksha lost her life after a tree branch crashed down on her during a brief outing with her father amidst heavy rainfall.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening. Raksha’s father had taken her out to purchase ice cream as a treat for her brother’s completion of his school exams. Recalling the moments before the tragedy, her father said she was insistent on accompanying him despite the unpredictable weather. They stopped at his brother-in-law’s shop, located around 2 km from their home, where Raksha enjoyed her favorite strawberry ice cream, unaware of the looming danger.
Murali D, Raksha’s uncle, had warned them about the strong winds before they left. Unfortunately, as they made their way back, violent gusts toppled a large tree branch, striking both father and daughter. Raksha was seated on the bike’s fuel tank when the branch collapsed on them.
Locals hurried to help, freeing the father trapped under the fallen limb. Raksha, critically injured and bleeding, was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital and later referred to Bowring Hospital. Tragically, she was declared dead upon arrival at 8:30 pm.
The grieving family is shattered by the sudden loss. “She was our cherished angel, the daughter we had long wished for, and now she’s gone,” Murali expressed.
