Officials from the Lokayukta conducted simultaneous raids at multiple locations in Bengaluru on Thursday in connection with allegations of disproportionate assets against government officials.
The searches were carried out at the residences and offices of R. Shashidhar, Chief Executive Officer of the Singanayakanahalli Raitha Seva Cooperative Society in Yelahanka, and H. C. Indresh, an assistant professor at the Veterinary College in Hebbal.
Multiple teams conduct searches
According to officials, several Lokayukta teams were deployed to conduct coordinated searches at different premises linked to the suspects.
The raids followed complaints alleging that the officials possessed assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
Investigators began examining property documents, financial records, and other relevant materials during the searches to verify the allegations.
Officials said the raids were part of ongoing efforts to investigate corruption complaints and ensure transparency in public service.
Investigation focuses on financial records
During the operation, authorities reportedly scrutinised documents related to property ownership, bank transactions, and investment records to determine whether the accused had accumulated assets beyond their legitimate earnings.
The searches were conducted under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, which allows authorities to investigate cases involving disproportionate assets held by public servants.
Sources said the investigation is still in progress and more details are expected once officials complete the verification of seized documents.
Anti-corruption drive continues
The Karnataka Lokayukta has been actively conducting investigations and raids across the state following complaints of corruption and financial irregularities in public institutions.
Such operations are aimed at strengthening accountability in government offices and ensuring that public servants adhere to financial transparency norms.
Further action in the case will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
