Navigating Majestic Metro station has long felt like solving a puzzle for daily commuters, thanks to confusing signs and disorienting escalator layouts. But change may finally be on track. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has initiated steps to simplify the maze by hiring a consultancy firm to revamp the station’s signage system.

Tenders have been floated to select the agency that will analyze and redesign the wayfinding setup at this crucial interchange, where the Purple and Green Lines intersect. The underground station, operational for nearly a decade, sees a daily footfall of 1.2 to 1.5 lakh passengers — many of whom often struggle to find the right platform or exit point.

Commuters have repeatedly flagged the poor signage. “It’s frustrating. New passengers especially get lost switching between lines,” said Vishnuprasad, pointing to the lack of clarity in platform directions. “Floor markings were installed recently, but they’ve vanished now.”

Even Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya stepped in recently, urging BMRCL to prioritize the issue. Another commuter, Priyanka A, stressed the need for better directions outside the station too. “At the KSRTC bus stand, there are no signs pointing to the Metro. First-time users are left guessing.”

Acknowledging the feedback, BMRCL MD Maheshwar Rao confirmed that the selected firm will study the current system and suggest practical fixes, which will then be implemented.
