Bengaluru: A tragic case of relationship violence unfolded in South Bengaluru, where a 33-year-old woman was found murdered in a hotel room late Friday night. The accused, a 25-year-old man believed to be in a relationship with the victim, has been arrested.
The victim, identified as Harini R of Hemmigepura in Banashankari 6th Stage, was stabbed 13 times in a hotel room located in Poornapragna Housing Society Layout. Police say the accused, Yashas—a BCA graduate from Kengeri working in a private firm—confessed after contacting a constable from Kengeri police station the following day.
After the stabbing, Yashas allegedly returned home, inflicted a knife wound on himself, and alerted the police. He was initially treated at a local hospital before being shifted to KIMS Hospital. After being discharged on Sunday, he was arrested by Subramanyapura police.
Investigations revealed that Harini had been married to a farmer since 2012 and was a mother of two daughters, aged 13 and 10. She reportedly met Yashas at a village fair three years ago, and the relationship developed into an extramarital affair.
Their affair became known to both families, prompting Harini to break off contact. However, they reconnected recently and agreed to meet one last time. According to police, during this meeting, Harini reiterated her decision to end the affair. Yashas, allegedly unable to accept this, had premeditated the murder and brought a knife with him.
Police believe emotional distress and possessiveness triggered the violent act.
