Bengaluru: This year’s Republic Day flower show, based on theme of Shravanabelagola Mahamasthakabhishekam will be organized in Lalbagh between January 19 and 28.
Horticulture Department Commissioner Prabhash Chandra Ray said that the 207th flower show will be based on Shravanabelagola 88th Mahamasthakabhishekam, which will be held in February. So, a replica of Gommatagiri is being designed inside the glass house. Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade will inaugurate the show.
“This will be like a long shot of the Shravanabelagola within the glass house. The microcosm of Gommateshwara idol of 11-feet height will be placed in Indragiri of 30-feet height. Even the replica will be anointed with Kumkumam, turmeric and milk,” he said.
There will be a replica of Bahubali’s feet in the left-side of the glass house. A Mahamasthakabhisheka emblem, which is 18-feet high and 20 ft wide will be created. At the backside, there will be models which depict ‘Drishti Yuddha’, ‘Jala Yuddha’, ‘Malla Yuddha’, Chakra Rathna Prayoga’ between Bharatha and Bhahubali’s austerity after renunciation. Bump sculptures of Bahubali and quotes will be also be made.
An artist from North Karnataka Shivalingappa S.Badiger will make the idol of Gommateshwara using millets. Photo gallery, a forum for litterateurs, sales of books and saplings will attract visitors .
He said that Rs.1.63 crore has been spent for the flower show and the replica itself costs Rs.30 lakh. As per the estimation around 4 lakh people would visit the garden and the department would get an approximate income of Rs.2 crores. For security purposes, 100 CCTV cameras have been installed and there will be a police outstation near the garden.
The renovated M H Marigowda Library inside Lalbagh will be inaugurated during the flower show.
