Bengaluru: Muslim Awareness League (MAL) has urged the Supreme Court to reconsider its recent judgmnent on the triple talaq, citing that the judgement may hit the Sharia principles.

Speaking to reporters in the city, MAL chairman, H M Asif Iqbal informed that triple talaq is a religious issue and involves various fundamental principles of Islam. “The Constitution of India allows all the people to follow their religious principles.

People are living with harmony since last 70 years through religious freedom. But now efforts are done to weaken the sharia laws,” he said urging the Central government to stop meddling with the religious freedom of the citizens.

Iqbal alleged that since last three years, Muslims are being targeted in the name of cow protection and law and order situation is deteriorating across the country. ‘”Muslims are scared due to the increasing attacks and murders. Central government must act as per the secular principles of the country,” he urged.
