Malpe fishing boat capsizes near Maharashtra, seven fishermen rescued

Karwar: A fishing boat from Karwar capsized near Devagad, Maharashtra and as many as seven fishermen onboard were rescued.

Deep sea trawler ‘ Shivarakshaka’ had ventured for fishing from Malpe port.

Sunil Manjunath, Suresh Manjunath, Jagannatha Rama, Prashanth Moodagi, Gajendra Panduranga, Krishna Mogera and Lohith Dharma were the fishermen from Bhatkal present in the boat, who were rescued.

It is said that the boat collided with some object in the water near Ratnagiri, which damaged the boat. Soon water started gushing into the boat resulting in the boat capsize.

The fishermen in the boat alerted the nearby ‘Shivatejas’ boat and they rescued the 7 fishermen from the fateful boat.

The drowned ‘ Shivarakshaka’ boat belonged to Dinesh Thingalaya from Paduthonne, Bengre Hoode.
