Bengaluru: A 34-year-old man allegedly killed his mother, grandmother and brother-in-law before dying by suicide at his residence in Bengaluru’s Kottigepalya area, shocking residents and prompting a detailed police investigation into the motive behind the crime.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning under the jurisdiction of Kamakshipalya Police Station. Police identified the deceased accused as Prashant, who worked as a driver. According to preliminary investigations, he allegedly attacked his family members with a sharp weapon before taking his own life by hanging inside the house.

Three family members found dead

The victims have been identified as Mangalamma (55), Prashant’s mother, Nanjamma, his grandmother, and Satish, his brother-in-law. Police said the three sustained fatal injuries during the attack at their residence near Ayyappa Temple in Kottigepalya.

The incident came to light after family members and neighbours alerted the police. Officers rushed to the spot and found all four bodies inside the house.

Investigation underway

Police said no suicide note was recovered from the scene. However, preliminary findings suggest that Prashant may have been suffering from mental health issues. Investigators are questioning relatives and neighbours while examining all possible angles to establish the exact motive behind the incident.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.
