A 28-year-old migrant construction worker from Bihar has been arrested for allegedly assaulting an 11-year-old girl in Bengaluru, police said.

Accused lured minor to isolated location

The accused, identified as Mohammad Munna, allegedly approached the child while she was playing outside her residence on Wednesday evening. Police said he lured her to a nearby under-construction building, where the incident reportedly took place.

In an attempt to silence the victim, he allegedly gave her ₹150 and warned her not to disclose the matter to anyone.

Family alerted after unusual behaviour

The girl’s parents grew concerned when she remained missing for an extended period. Upon her return, they noticed cash in her possession and questioned her.

The child, reportedly distressed, shared details of the incident with her family, who immediately approached the Jnanabharathi Police Station to file a complaint.

Swift police action and legal proceedings

Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR and quickly apprehended the accused. Officials confirmed that a case has been filed under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The accused is currently in custody, and further investigation is underway. Authorities are also examining his background for any prior offences.

Victim receiving care and support

Police said the minor is receiving medical treatment and psychological counselling to help her cope with the trauma. Officials emphasised that ensuring the child’s safety and recovery remains a priority.

Renewed focus on child safety

The incident has once again highlighted the need for increased vigilance and community awareness regarding child safety. Experts stress the importance of educating children about personal safety and encouraging open communication within families.
