A young man in his 20s was found inside the women’s hostel at Bangalore University‘s Jnanabharathi campus on Thursday evening, sparking concern among students. Hostel residents alerted the management, who then contacted the police.
Disguised Entry & Police Action
Authorities revealed that the individual, a resident of Kolar, had entered the hostel dressed in women’s clothing to meet his cousin. While some students claimed he was wearing a burkha, both police officials and the hostel in-charge denied this assertion.
Upon questioning, Jnanabharathi police released the youth as neither the hostel management nor students filed a formal complaint.
Security Concerns at the Hostel
The incident has raised concerns over security at the Ramabai Girls Hostel, where the youth was caught around 7 PM. Interestingly, the hostel in-charge stated that there was no warden assigned to the facility.
In response, a senior university official maintained that a woman warden had been in place but was dismissed following the incident. The same official also pointed out that the police decided to release the youth without further action.
