A 39-year-old cab driver, Chandrashekar, allegedly strangled his wife, Vellaramathi (30), to death on Tuesday morning in Bengaluru over suspicions of infidelity. He later surrendered at the Sampigehalli police station and has been booked for murder.

According to the police, the couple, married for 11 years with two children (aged 10 and six), had frequent arguments. Chandrashekar suspected Vellaramathi, who worked as an accountant, of having an affair due to her prolonged phone usage. Their heated altercation on Monday night escalated the next morning, leading to the fatal act.

The couple, originally from Tamil Nadu, had been residing in Bengaluru for a decade. Police are investigating the case further.
