A 26-year-old man, Vijay, was allegedly murdered by his rivals in a suspected revenge attack just a day after being released on bail, according to JJ Nagar police in West Bengaluru.
Vijay, recently out of jail in connection with an attempted murder case involving his rival Arun (27), was killed on Saturday night in Janatha Colony. Police reports say Arun had invited Vijay for a peace talk to resolve past hostilities. However, when Arun and his associate Deepu (28) met Vijay, a heated altercation ensued, leading to Vijay being fatally stabbed.
The JJ Nagar police swiftly responded, launching a manhunt. By Sunday, they tracked the suspects to a forested area in RR Nagar. When officers attempted an arrest, the duo allegedly tried to escape and attacked police personnel. The police fired warning shots, but when the men did not comply, they were shot in the leg to neutralize the threat.
The injured suspects were taken to hospital, and arrest procedures have begun, according to police sources. The investigation is ongoing.
The incident highlights the growing trend of revenge crimes and the violent fallout of personal vendettas, despite legal interventions.
