
Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Sexual Assault
Bengaluru: In a landmark judgment, the first Fast Track Special Court (FTSC) has awarded 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹5,000 to a convict who sexually assaulted a minor girl on the pretext of marrying her.
Raghavendra, a resident of Talaghattapur police station, had forced the girl into a relationship and later sexually assaulted her, threatening to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone. The victim’s father reported the incident to the police, leading to the registration of a POCSO case against the accused.
Following a thorough investigation by IO Siddaraj and the submission of the charge sheet, the judge found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. Additionally, the court imposed one year of simple imprisonment under IPC section 363 and a fine of ₹5,000. The judge also ordered ₹5 lakh in compensation from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to the victim. Prosecutor A. Chandrakala argued the case on behalf of the state.
