Bengaluru: A 25-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death following a drunken altercation near Jaraganahalli Park in south Bengaluru on Monday night. Police have arrested two labourers in connection with the murder.
The deceased has been identified as Uday Kumar (25). The accused, identified as Cheluva and Teja, work at a vegetable market in Sarakki and are residents of JP Nagar.
Argument at bar turns fatal
According to police, the three men were consuming alcohol at a bar around 8.30 pm when an argument broke out. The accused allegedly questioned Uday Kumar for staring at them, leading to a heated exchange.
After Kumar left the bar, Cheluva and Teja allegedly followed him and intercepted him near Jaraganahalli Park.
Police said the duo first assaulted Kumar with a beer bottle before stabbing him multiple times in the chest and abdomen. He sustained grievous injuries and died in the attack.
Passersby alert police
Passersby who witnessed the incident immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and apprehended both suspects shortly after the attack.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim and the accused were not known to each other and had no previous enmity. Police believe the murder stemmed from a sudden altercation while the three were under the influence of alcohol.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the incident.
