Bengaluru: People commit murder for various reasons; love, jealousy, hatred, obsession, self defence etc. Killing someone for “staring” at you however, seems to be taking things a little too far.
In an unfortunate incident in Mallathahalli, a young man lost his life when he was stabbed following a fight with fellow patrons of Maruthi Bar.
The victim, later identified as Arun Krishna (22), a resident of Ullala, and his friend, Dhillon Somaiah (24), from Kodagu, were involved in a drunken brawl after a gang of men alleged that they were staring at them.
According to the police, the two friends had gone to the bar to get some drinks at around 11.30 pm. A group of three men seated at a table opposite them accused them of staring at them and a fight soon ensued. When the bar’s staff tried to intervene, one of the aggressors pulled out a knife and stabbed Krishna in the chest. Rushing to his injured friend’s aid, Somaiah too was assaulted.
The attackers managed to flee the scene once the Jnanabharathi police arrived.
Krishna was declared dead on arrival after he was rushed to a private hospital. The police are presently going through CCTV footage in order to identify the attackers.
