In Yelahanka, Bengaluru, a man found himself unexpectedly involved in a police investigation after he agreed to dispose of a bag for a neighbour—unaware it contained the remains of a stillborn baby.

According to reports, the man was approached by a 17-year-old girl, a nearby resident, who asked him to discard a bag near a local dump. He complied, not knowing what was inside. Authorities later discovered the remains and, upon reviewing CCTV footage, traced the disposal back to him.

When questioned, he explained that he had only been helping someone in need. Police then visited the girl’s home, where the full story emerged.

The teenager, who works as a vegetable vendor, had been in a relationship with a local autorickshaw driver. She had kept her pregnancy hidden from her family and gave birth at home with the help of a friend. Sadly, the infant did not survive. In a state of distress, she asked her neighbour to help throw away the bag.

The man was cleared of any wrongdoing once the sequence of events was confirmed.

However, based on the girl’s age and statements, police have taken legal action against the man she was involved with, booking him under relevant child protection laws. He has been placed in judicial custody while the investigation continues.
