In a shocking incident, the Bannerghatta Police Station witnessed an unusual surrender when a man arrived with a body in his car, claiming he had killed his brother-in-law.

The accused, identified as Srinivas, a dog kennel operator from Bhyrappanahalli, reportedly confessed to murdering 24-year-old Ranjith following a family dispute.

Dispute over relationship led to crime

According to police, Ranjith was in a relationship with Srinivas’ younger sister, who is already married. This reportedly led to tensions within the family.

On Thursday, Srinivas allegedly called Ranjith to Bilwaradahalli near Bannerghatta under the pretext of discussing the issue. During the meeting, he is said to have attacked Ranjith with a metal rod, hitting him on the head.

Ranjith succumbed to the injuries on the spot, police confirmed.

Accused surrenders with body

In a startling turn of events, Srinivas reportedly transported the body in his car and drove directly to the police station, where he confessed to the crime and surrendered.

Police officials, initially taken aback by the development, took him into custody immediately.

Case registered, probe underway

A case has been registered under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine further details.
