Bengaluru: The State government is all set to solve drinking water problem of Mangloreans, especially during the summer.
A sea water purification unit will be set up to provide drinking water to Mangaluru city, said Minister for Urban development Roshan Baig on Thursday.
Speaking to mediapersons at CM’s official residence ‘Krishna’, Baig said that the purification unit will be on experimental basis and it will help in supplying pure drinking water to the city, especially during summer season. He also said that the project is based on the study done after Chennai city’s successful story in this regard.
In Chennai city, two such units have been installed and are able to supply sufficient drinking water. If the project yields expected results here, then it will be extended to other cities too, said Baig.
He did not brief about the time and the funds required to realise the project.
