Bengaluru: People nowadays have become more health conscious and their fitness regime extends beyond their exercise routine to go on to include both health foods as well as health drinks.
Banking on this frenzy of people, Sathish, a MBA graduate from Presidency College and a resident of Subrahmanya Nagar in Bengaluru decided to turn his attraction towards millets into a business propostion and has been selling health drinks which aids in tackling indigestion, flab, high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes etc.
In his new business, Sathish prepares finger millet gruel, bitter melon soup, dry ginger kashaya, green tea and different varieties of vegetable soups.
Well, if you are wondering if there are any takers for these kind of drinks, Sathish has the answer in the number of empty glass cups that go for wash daily. In J. P Park near Mattikere itself, in a span of nearly four hours ie from 6 am to 10 am, more than 200 people purchase and drink these juices.
Packets of kashaya mixes made up of barley, peanut, cardamom, sago, cashew and other millets are available here in 200, 250, 500 gram and 1 kg packets. Beans, cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, fenugreek leaves (Menthe soppu) and spinach soups have great demand.
Interestingly, keeping up with the healthy way, Sathish’s shop finds no place for use of plastic cups/vessels rather he uses stainless steel, bronze cups and vessels. Now, he has extended health drinks sale to Lalbagh and Sankey tank.
Satish was trained at Central Food Technology Research Institute (CFTRI) of Mysore on the preparation of health drinks.
