Bengaluru: Social welfare minister Priyank Kharge stirred up a new controversy by comparing the media with terrorists.
Speaking at a government function in the city, the minister stated that terrorists kill a person once with a bullet, but the media kills a person over and over, the entire day by publishing half-truths.
Junior Kharge, is already in the line of fire for organising a debate on Tuesday at a private hotel for scholars from across the country, while the state was in mourning.
It was while referring to this controversy that Junior Kharge stated that the media troubles people every day by saying half-truths. “For breaking news, they edit the stories according to their will and whims. For TRP they air false news,” he said.
As his statement turned into a controversy, he posted a series of tweets in a bid to clarify himself. He tweeted that his intention was to urge the media and media students to stick to the truth.
As expected, the BJP took a dig Kharge for his statement. Party general secretary Ravi Kumar warned of a state-wide protest if Priyank Kharge does not apologise for his insensitive remark against the media.
