Met Department Predicts Rain in Bengaluru for Next Few Days, Yellow Alert Issued

Bengaluru: According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Karnataka can expect continued rainfall for the coming week. Bengaluru, in particular, will experience light to moderate showers in various areas, prompting a yellow alert until May 13.

Additionally, gusty winds and thunderstorms are anticipated in the city. Senior IMD scientist CS Patil emphasized that the rainfall trend is expected to persist, accompanied by wind speeds of 40 to 50 kmph.

He also highlighted the likelihood of moderate rainfall across Karnataka, with a projected accumulation exceeding 7cm. This follows a dry April, making May a wetter month for the state. Interestingly, Bengaluru recently recorded its lowest maximum temperature since March, a welcome relief after enduring months of intense heat.

However, the sudden downpour led to waterlogging woes and traffic disruptions citywide, including at Kempegowda International Airport’s terminal 2.
