Metro passengers with cameras asked to provide Aadhar details

Bengaluru: If you are a Metro commuter and wish to carry a camera during the journey then you might be required to provide your Aadhar details and mobile number.

Though providing these details is not mandatory, officials at the Vijayanagara, Vidhana Soudha, Baiyappanahalli, Malleshwaram, Yashwanthpur, Majestic, Mysuru road and Indiranagar stations are said to be following it as an order much to the surprise of several Metro passengers. The commuters have criticised this on the social media.

One of Namma Metro passengers opined, “They can collect the name, address, mobile number for those who carry alcohol, weapons, and inflammable materials, but applying this rule for cameras is not right. Now, everyone has the camera, that’s a common object.”

Replying to this, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Public Relation Officer U A Vasantha Rao said, “Many passengers take photos during the journey. If anyone object we write down their name and mobile number. No direction has been given to take Aadhar number. If there is anything like that we will verify”.
