A social media content creator was taken into custody by Bengaluru Police after a video showing him frightening passengers inside a Namma Metro train with a toy gun went viral on social media.
The individual has been identified as Arjun, a native of Puducherry who has been living in Bengaluru for the past two years. Police acted after the video, posted on his Instagram account, began circulating widely online and triggered public concern.
Prank inside Metro sparks panic
According to police, the incident took place on February 6 when Arjun boarded a Metro train from the Deepanjali Nagar station. During the journey, he allegedly pulled out a toy gun and used it as part of a prank directed at fellow passengers.
The act caused immediate panic and anger among commuters travelling in the coach. Several passengers were reportedly alarmed by the sudden appearance of the gun-like object in the crowded train.
Authorities stated that such actions can create fear and confusion in public transport systems, especially in enclosed spaces where large numbers of people are present.

Police track down the accused
After the video gained traction on social media platforms, the Bengaluru City Police launched an investigation to identify the individual responsible.
Arjun was subsequently traced and apprehended by the police. Following his detention, the police released a video in which he issued a public apology for his actions.
In the video, he admitted that he had carried the toy gun in his pocket and used it as part of the prank. He acknowledged that the act angered commuters and apologised for causing distress to the public.
He also assured authorities that he would refrain from engaging in such behaviour in the future.
Warning against dangerous social media stunts
Police officials used the incident to caution content creators against performing risky stunts in public places for social media attention.
Authorities emphasised that activities involving objects such as toy guns in crowded public spaces cannot be treated as harmless pranks, as they can create panic and threaten public safety.
Investigations also revealed that Arjun’s Instagram account, reportedly named “the_villian_arc”, featured several similar prank videos recorded in public spaces including shops and autorickshaws, where strangers were provoked for social media content.
Officials reiterated that such actions would attract strict legal consequences and urged social media creators to act responsibly while producing content.
