Bengaluru: The Metro service which had come to a halt since Friday morning after the BMRCL staff staged a flash protest has been restored around 12 noon after the police granted bail to the arrested workers and the state government sent an envoy to discuss the issue with the striking workers.
The workers had gone on a flash strike following the arrest of six of their colleagues after a scuffle that ensued between BMRC staff personnel and KSISF personnel at the Sir M Visvesvaraya Metro Station on Thursday over security screening issue. While four persons were let off on bail earlier, the police had detained two. The workers had refused to attend work till the remaining two were released by the police.
The truce was brokered by Congress’s NA Harris, MLA from Shantinagar constituency. The workers called off the strike after an assurance from Harris that their demands will be heard. Next week, another round of talks will be held with Harris and metro staffers to reach a consensus on the issue.
