Metro underground works pick up pace: Achieves breakthrough

Bengaluru: As part of the works of 13.76-km underground section (Dairy Circle-Nagawara) of the Reach 6 line connecting Gottigere in the South with Nagawara in North, the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Vindhya completed the parallel tunnel between Cantonment and Shivajinagar on Wednesday October 14.

According to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited officials, three more TBMs are expected to make a breakthrough in a month. While, TBM Varada, tunnelling from Rashtriya Military School to Langford Town Station is expected to make a breakthrough by the end of October, the tunneling from Shivajinagar by TBM Avni is expected to make a breakthrough at the MG Road Station, and TBM Lavi is expected to take another three weeks.

Tunneling works by TBM Rudra from the South Ramp near Karmika Bhavana, is expected to make a breakthrough near Dairy Circle soon, and then proceeding towards northwards to Mico Industries (Lakkasandra) and Langford Town.
