Minister Orders Probe After Surprise Visit Reveals Mismanagement in Bengaluru
Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has instructed the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner to launch a formal investigation following evident administrative lapses in the city’s North and South taluk offices.
On Thursday, the minister conducted an unannounced inspection of the assistant commissioners’ offices in both taluks. During his visit, Gowda found several staff members absent, discovered manipulated attendance records, and witnessed visibly upset citizens waiting for basic services.
“The conduct of some officials is utterly irresponsible,” Gowda remarked. “People have been forced to visit these offices for the same issue repeatedly, often waiting 5 to 10 months. Even for minor tasks, citizens are made to run from pillar to post.”
He noted that public frustration is mounting due to inefficiency and negligence. “The dissatisfaction isn’t just among the public — even the government is alarmed by how poorly these offices are functioning,” the minister stated.
In response, he has directed Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner Jagadeesha G to conduct a thorough inquiry into the staff’s functioning, aiming to address systemic issues and restore public trust in local administration.
This move comes amid rising public complaints about bureaucratic red tape and delayed services at key government offices in the city.
