Bengaluru: Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister Ramanath Rai sought financial assistance from the state Government for soldier Ekanath Shetty’s family on March 7 during a meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Accompanying Eknath Shetty’s wife Jayanthi and children during the meeting with the CM, Minister Rai submitted a written plea seeking financial support from the state government, keeping in view the poor financial status of the family.

It may be recalled, Ekanath Shetty, an officer from Guruvayanakere in Belthangadi taluk was on board the Indian Air Force plane carrying 29 people that went missing over Bay of Bengal on July 22, 2016. The IAF officials had later communicated to the kin of personnel on the missing AN-32 plane that those on board were presumably dead.
