Magadi: An incident of theft in the Kodi Basavanna temple located at Chakrabavi village, has come to light, here on Saturday, April 27.
The miscreants have reportedly broken the doors of the temple and decamped with the offering box having money in it.
Earlier, in the same temple, the statue of Basavanna was broken by some miscreants. The temple was then renovated. After the renovation, the offering box was looted.
But this time, the miscreants have thrown the stolen box in the nearby field after taking the money from it.
The people suspect that a it’s a planned theft as the temple had celebrated its annual feast during which the devotees had put money in the offering box. The miscreants might have planned it then and there, villagers feel.
The villagers also suspect that the theft might have taken place because there were no CCTV cameras installed.
Meanwhile, the villagers have urged the police to take stringent action against the miscreants.
According to the historical evidences, the temple is believed to belong to the time of Kempegowda, who is called the architect of Bengaluru.
