Bengaluru: Shanthinagar MLA N A Harris led Legislative Committee on Women and Child Welfare called on the Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The Legislative Committee demanded action against the media depicting women and children, especially victims of atrocities, in bad light, increase of Union Government’s share for the honorarium to be paid to Anganawadi workers and Anganawadi assistants, establishment of ONE STOP CENTRE for the victims of various kinds of violence in all districts and to provide financial assistance for the establishment of Forensic Science Laboratory exclusively to deal with cases pertaining to atrocities against women and children.
Legislators Appaji Gowda, Rafeeq Ahmed, Sudhkar, Ms Vinisha Nero, Dr Jayamala, Chairperson of the Karnataka State Women Development Corporation V Bharathi, the Managing Director of the Karnataka State Women Development Corporation Vasundhara Das were present on the occasion.
